1. Washing and Care

 

A heat-defiant wig should be washed regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions using care products specifically designed for synthetic fiber wigs.

 

2. Drying

 

  • Allow the wig to air dry on a wig stand or on a towel.

  • Do not use a hairdryer unless permitted by the manufacturer.

  • Avoid brushing the wig while it is wet.

 

3. Styling and Heat Application

 

Heat-defiant synthetic wigs can be styled using low heat, typically up to 130–180 °C (266–356 °F). Always check the manufacturer's exact recommendations, as a tool that is too hot will melt and ruin the fiber!   • Proper Brushing Technique: Gently detangle long hair starting from the ends and gradually working your way up toward the roots. Use a wide-tooth comb or a brush designed for synthetic hair to prevent stretching or damaging the fiber.

  • Friction Prevention: Long fibers easily generate static and tangle due to friction against the neck, shoulders, and clothing. Spray a leave-in conditioner or detangling spray meant for synthetic hair onto the lengths and ends to protect the fiber from friction.

  • Requires Regular "Resetting": Long fibers require regular mechanical smoothing. The frizziness and roughness caused by friction must be smoothed out periodically by going over the lengths with a flat iron (at a low heat, approx. 130 °C / 266 °F) to restore the fiber.

  • Shorter Lifespan: If a long heat-defiant wig is worn daily without regular flat-iron maintenance, its lifespan may be shorter than that of a traditional synthetic wig.

  • Cannot Be Dyed: Regular hair dye will not adhere to synthetic fiber.
